Oh, 24-bit PNGs. Your transparency makes me smile. :D

Also: Tina and I are [trying] to start up an art blog in high hopes that maybe we'll post more art. You can watch our failure here: http://orzono.blogspot.com

Omato and I are up to something. Something brilliant. Or at least not half-dim-witted.

Yeah, or something.

I should probably make a new header image and some spruced-up dividers, seeing as to how they're both about 5 years old. Or maybe revamp the entire journal.

Also: Everyone should be watching America's Best Dance Crew 2. I've yet to decide who to root for, but I'm looking forward to seeing more from Boogiebots, Soreal, and Super Cr3w.

I do, however, worry about how well A.S.I.I.D. will do because of Joey and his handicap. Not that it has anything to do with his ability to dance (he's got some crazy energy), but the fact that his disability will probably put them under a light of pity. While not an avid viewer of reality shows, it is my understanding that people who overcome extraordinary odds due to physical/mental disabilities tend to get pretty far, but end up getting dropped near the end. In fact, I almost feel like they shouldn't have revealed that he was deaf until near the end, after they had battled their way through without that little factoid.

Why? My theory is this: people want to see other people persevere against all odds, but at the same time, you always worry if the handicapped guy is getting votes because of his skill or his disability. It seems that having a disability might help you in the beginning, but ends up being a contingency near the end where people question real, or imaginary merits. It's usually the haters who start planting the seeds of ill-will: you know, the people who post comments like, "Oh, so-and-so is still only in because she's mentally retarded, but she can't do anything else."

Either way, I wish the best to them and all the crews (though I find it hard to like Supreme Soul)-- I've yet to see one that is as creative and personable as the JabbaWockeeZ, but you know...it's just the beginning.

So I've recently started accepting Furcadia portrait commissions--this entry isn't a plug for them, so don't worry! No, instead, this entry is a rant about the attitudes of some people on Furcadia regarding pricing.

I charge $32 per portrait, cash only. I don't accept Digo items or in-game currency because, to be completely honest, I'm not interested in many of the status items on Furcadia. I'll take this moment to say that no, $32 isn't cheap, but I didn't choose the number because I believe myself to be some sort of fantastic artist and that $32 is totally a fair price for my work. It's really just an arbitrary number I came up with based on how much friends have given me for gift pieces.

Either way, I'm tired of people telling me that the price is too high. Or trying to barter it lower. Or asking if I can cut them a discount if they order 3 or more portraits.

No, no, and no.

It wouldn't be fair if I gave random people discounts just because they managed to guilt-trip me into doing so. These portraits aren't some sort of premade item that I have piling up in my room and need to get rid of ASAP, so no, buying "in bulk" doesn't net you a bargain, either.

Basically: at least have enough respect for the artist and don't argue about price. You might not think it's "fair," but you're not obligated to commission that artist. If you really want it, you'll wait until you can come up with the requested sum.

I hate drawing weapons. Should have done the swords first, because I just got progressively lazier as the picture dragged on. My goal was to not overwork parts of the picture (e.g. the hair) and just keep moving. You know, the spontaneous feeling and all!

About 3 hours in Painter 7 not including the linework. I just listened to a rather entertaining RE4 walkthrough on YouTube between sections. It actually went by faster than I thought.
